A certificate in Primate Husbandry & Training offers F&M students intellectual and practical experience designed to develop their abilities to professionally care for animals and to reflect on their experiences as one facet of humans’ relationships with the natural world. Students will learn fundamentals of behavior and conditioning in the classroom, engage in hands-on animal care and primate training, and have the opportunity to view their work in a broader ethical, cultural, and social context. Students will demonstrate their expertise by creating specific enrichment and training plans for a species with which the student does not have hands-on experience.
