STS 339 - Religion and the Brain

Description
What is the epistemic allure of situating the brain at the center of a self-consciously religious or self-consciously scientific worldview? What are the religious roots of the mechanization of psychology and the emergence of the cognitive sciences? How, why, and to what effect has religion become an engineering problem-quite literally a matter of circuits and codes and neural networks-for scientists and supplicants alike? Same as RST339.
