SPA 321 - Miradas críticas: textos y culturas hispanohablantes


Description
Spanish 321 emphasizes the appreciation, understanding and analysis of various types of literature, art, and popular culture. This course will introduce you to the methodologies used to interpret different cultural artifacts, including fiction, non-fiction and the visual arts. it will also help you to develop your analytical, interpretative and writing skills through a regular practice of close reading. We will discuss representative works from different historical periods from Spain and Latin America. We will also focus on the writing process and argumentation. In this way, the work that you do for this class will help prepare you for more advanced courses in Spanish and other disciplines.
Prerequisite
Two courses at the 221-250 level; or Advanced Mid placement and one course at the 221-250 level; or placement into SPA 321.
