PHI 382 - Aristotle’s Ethics Description This course closely studies Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics a foundational philosophical text especially in the fields of virtue ethics and moral psychology. We will examine Aristotle’s views on eudaimonia – human happiness or flourishing– virtue and individual virtues such as bravery, moderation and justice, deliberation and decision, friendship, pleasure, and the tensions between the pursuits of practical and theoretical reasoning. Prerequisite One prior Philosophy course
