GOV 350 - Science Gone Wrong: Fraud, Breaches of Integrity, and the Misuse of Statistics Description Those in the scientific community assume that their colleagues have good intentions when engaged in the research process. However, space in prestigious journals is limited, and editors prioritize projects with unambiguous results and novel findings. This incentivizes researchers to produce such papers, even when data is uncooperative. This course examines how incentives may push researchers to breach norms and ethics in place to protect scientific integrity. Topics include scientific fraud, other breaches of scientific integrity, and the misuse of statistics. Prerequisite GOV 250 OR MAT 215 OR BOS 250 OR ECO 210 OR SOC 302
