GER 301 - Contemporary Germany


Description
This course focuses on a range of topics that are relevant to life in contemporary Germany. Students explore what it means to be German today, the German political system, and Germany’s response to the climate crisis. In thinking about who is German, students consider some of the challenges migrants face in getting to Germany and finding a place in German society. Students engage with a wide variety of texts ranging from news articles to films, infographics, a play, a graphic novel, interviews, websites, and videos. The course emphasizes the continuing development of students’ reading skills, interpersonal and presentational communication skills, and writing skills in multiple genres.
