CNX 123 - Science Fiction: Bodies, Technology, and Reproductive Futures Description This course draws on 20th and 21st century science fiction to examine broader themes in anthropology, feminist theory, and environmental studies to examine the intersection of identity, health, technology, and the body. Considering futurist fiction and a range of interdisciplinary readings, we will unsettle divides between nature and culture, sex and gender, and the private and public spheres; reimagine social and biological reproduction; and explore the intersection of technology and the body. Students will learn to closely read and critically engage with both fictional and theoretical texts, and put these skills in action in both their writing and in-class discussions. Credits: 1
