CNX 159 - How Your Hands Think

Description
Moving the hands while talking is a robust cross-cultural phenomenon. What does this ubiquitous, yet diverse, practice tell us? We will be interested to see what gesturing teaches about how our minds work and how we make sense as unique individuals and as group members. Gaining prowess in interdisciplinary scholarship, we will read, discuss, and analyze research in linguistics, psychology, philosophy, and related fields to explore the dynamic and direct ways that as bodies, we think and communicate together.
