CNX 151 - National Reckonings: The Politics of Post-Conflict Reconciliation

Description
How can societies deal with the questions of justice and reconciliation after periods of civil conflict, war, and genocide? Through looking at some of the most important cases of transitional justice since World War II, including Rwanda, South Africa, the former Yugoslavia, Nepal, and Chile, you will learn to evaluate the various strategies countries have used to achieve peaceful coexistence after mass violence. In analyzing these difference approaches, you will also practice key academic skills including critical reading, active listening and discussion, and how to effectively make an argument in writing.
