CNX 121 - Storytelling Description The practice of sharing stories takes many forms across cultures and societies. Storytelling has a variety of uses, from entertainment and education to applications in the professions. In this course, students will share their own stories in order to connect with one another, their college house, and the greater F&M community, while at the same time developing their public speaking and active listening skills. Additionally, students will be trained in a creative storytelling practice directed at interacting with individuals with memory loss (TimeSlips™) in order to participate in a community-based learning project. Through an analysis of stories and scholarship about distinct forms of storytelling, students will develop close reading and critical thinking skills. Credits: 1
