CNX 120 - Jewish Responses to Holocaust Description This course deals with the Holocaust from the perspective of its principal victims. The scale and horror of the Nazi genocide against Jews and others is difficult to fathom from a purely historical standpoint, and it poses unique challenges for Jewish conceptions of God, the meaning of history, and the “problem of evil.” Emphasizing reading, writing, discussion, and critical thinking skills, we will explore some of these challenges through the lens of Jewish memory, ethics, theology, politics, and popular culture.
