CNX 114 - Music and Emotion Description How does music move us? Why do we turn repeatedly to music in order to regulate and express our emotions? How and why do emotional responses to music vary from person to person and from culture to culture? In this class we will begin to answer these questions by drawing on various disciplinary perspectives, including psychology, sociology, anthropology, history, and literary and music studies. As students consider different approaches to these basic questions, they will develop reading, writing, and critical thinking skills fundamental to a liberal arts education, and develop their own research projects on the topic of music and emotion.
