CNX 109 - Tear Them Down! The Politics of Monuments in the U.S. Description When should monuments be torn down, if ever? This class examines the political struggles over monuments, including violent protests. We will explore these controversies by participating in Reacting to the Past “games” (or immersive activities), in which students advance the goals of a historical figure in a team with other students. Students negotiate, build alliances, lobby, and vote, as they work to meet their objectives. Like other Connections courses, this class focuses on interpreting texts, developing scholarly debate, and learning to use resources at the College. Credits: 1
