AFS 141 - History of North & West Africa


Description
This course introduces major themes in the history of North and West Africa from ancient Egypt through decolonization and the early post-colonial period. Emphasis falls on West African political and social formations, domestic and trans-Atlantic slave systems, notions of identity, the role of Islam, and the rise and fall of colonialism. Students use primary sources to explore historical problems. Same as HIS141.
