AFS 281 - Political Economy of Africa


Description
A broad introduction to economic and social conditions in Africa and the factors that influence economic change and well-being in the region. Historical background on pre-colonial systems of production and exchange and economic restructuring introduced by European colonial administrations. Examination of major current economic and political issues, including agricultural production, technological change, dependence on natural resource exports, and the role of the state. Reflection on the question of economic development. Same as ECO 281 .
