PSY 200 - Neuroethics


Description
This course will examine our changing social, ethical, and political perceptions of human behavior in relation to changes in our understanding of the brain and its function, particularly in terms of advances in science that have occurred over the past 50 years. We will discuss the implications of our ability to monitor and manipulate the brain for our understanding of what is moral, normal, and healthy. Topics covered will include disorders of consciousness, cognitive liberty, psychiatric diseases and their treatment, drugs and addiction, and the role of the brain in producing socially unacceptable or undesirable behaviors. Previously PSY 220.
